Alternately, successfully complete musou mode with all characters except Dong Zhuo, Diao Chan, Lu Bu, Yuan Shao, and Zhang Jiao.

UNLOCK BONUS CHARACTERS
Beat Musou mode with the following character to unlock the bonus characters:
A member of the Shu Kingdom - Unlock Huang Zhong, Ma Chao, and Jiang Wei.
A member of the Wei Kingdom - Unlock Xiahou Yuan and Zhang Liao.
A member of the Wu Kingdom - Unlock Taishi Ci, Lu Meng, and Gan Ning.
One member of each kingdom - Unlock Diao Chan, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Chao, and Zhang Jiao in free mode.
One member of each kingdom - Unlock Side Selection in free mode.
ALTERNATE INTRODUCTION SEQUENCE
Finish Musou Mode with any character.
FREE HEALTH
Locate a save point in the game (this will also work if you don't have a memory card). When asked whether or not you want to save, do not save. You can now return to the game and you'll have all your health restored.
HOW TO GET LU BU
Successfully complete Stage 2 (Hulao Gate) in musou mode with at least 1,000 KOs.
IN-GAME RESET
Press START + SELECT during game play to return to the main menu.
HINT: FEMALE UNLIMITED COMBO
Attack once, move forward, attack once again, move forward, attack once, move forward, and repeat. This must be done quickly in order to continue the combo.
HINT: STRONG CHARACTERS' UNLIMITED COMBO
This requires a character strong enough to run over an Officer with a horse. Wait until an Officer moves into a corner, then run straight into him/her. Continue to press Forward and the horse will always keep running into him/her till you stop pressing in that direction. This will continue your combo indefinitely. You can also attack during your charge to speed up the combo count. Note: A 32+ hit combo will give you the maximum shield/sword drop and you can not exceed a 99 hit combo.
HINT: DEFEATING LU BU
Hit him once and then jump away. Then hit him again and repeat. When he blocks the hit, jump away as fast as possible.
HINT: DEFEATING OFFICERS
Attack the officer with a combo, using SQUARE. When they fall to the ground, wait until you see them begin to get back up. Quickly start your combo over again, and they should not have a chance to block it. This is especially useful for defeating Lu Bu, one of the hardest officers in the game.
